From the desk of Tommy
To all the Church Body,
On Sunday, May 11th we are going to do something new. At the request of the elders to preserve my aging carcass (as rumor would have it) and my progressively weakening state, as is the case of all humanity who marches toward their grave, I will be turning over the evening service to Shea Sumlin. Although this service traditionally attracts our young people (Collegians, Singles, Young Marrieds) it is not limited to the younger age group. All ages are welcome. It will be virtually the same evening service just a different time and a different expositor of the Word of God; from the handsome and dashing Tommy Nelson to the young, vibrant and tenacious Shea Sumlin (Sigma Nu ‘92).” Jono and the Tone Kings” will be doing the music as always and Shea will be expositing the scriptures (the Book of Haggai, the Book of James, the Book of Nehemiah). Please note that there is a new time for this service — 5:00 pm. There will no longer be a 6:00 pm Sunday evening service. Children’s ministry is available — four months through 10 years old.
I’ve been doing the evening service since the mid-eighties so this will be something new for me. I am really excited about the possibilities that the young studs bring to this service both for the church, the community, and what the future may hold.
Go Shea - Go Jono - Go Tone Kings! Remember the new time – 5:00 pm beginning May 11th.

WoW!!! I loved the sermon last!!! It is just what we need at DBC! Because I am over the young toddlers in the am, my husband & I have gone to DBC at night for years. I so agree that we need to quit wasting our lives & obey & love God with our very lives every day moment by moment & help others to do so as well!!! I thought of 2 Ross King songs as you preached - both are on the “All the Decorations Too” CD. The first one is called Things That Matter & has a line in it - the glory of the Lord is worth much more than my self-gratifaction….Your Kingdom is the only thing that matters, really. And the second song is Clear the Stage. Awesome lyrics - I wonder if Jono knows them? I went to just watch the baptisms yesterday from 3-4 & was so blessed by the testimonies of Gods work in each person’s life. I think we have it backwards - they should be seen by so many more people!!! God could so use those testimonies in the hearts of the lost & wandering!!! Maybe Shea could encourage people to go & bring friends & then stay for the Well. They have them once every other month. God Bless as you preach on & to Him be all the glory. Jodie
